Dear Esther Soundtrack

One of my favorite things about Dear Esther is the soundtrack, and I was happy to find it readily available.

Here is the first of a YouTube playlist for anyone else that wants to listen:

It is also on Spotify.

The last one, Ascension, gets to me everytime. I like how it subtly ends with the piano imitating a heart beat pattern that turns into a high pitched ring and then the narrator whispering “come back”. It fits in well with the idea that you’re Esther who is in some sort of coma. The high pitched ringing is like your heartbeat monitor flat lining and the narrator is telling you to come back and not give in to death.
